- Some words from the Artist - I express myself visually and it has been a necessity for me since childhood. I grew up playing with colors and forms. Although my work is basically the result of a personal exploration, I had contact with some techniques in the School of Free Arts from Porto Alegre, my native city, and in the Architecture University of Rio Grande do Sul. I have lived in Rio de Janeiro since 1996, the city which is the source of my inspiration. - About my inspiration - Sometimes my work is the reflection of myself, my emotions, my personal experiences. In my paintings, there may be two directions one has to choose, they represent decisions one must take… The different possibilities of life. Many times it is more simple, I use painting relate to nature, the sky, the ocean, the trees. Regarding this Rio de Janeiro is a visual source. Occasionally, my Art is an exercise in playing with colors and forms, just for pleasure; I don’t have a preconception, or a fixed concept. It’s pure expression for me and the observer. I like vivid colors, visual and physical textures, i.e. woven fibers, undulating and interlocking elements. I like movement, rhythm, elegance and a dramatic quality. I like the duality of important elements. Frequently “couples” occur in the structure of my paintings. It does not happen consciously….then I realize they are already there. It can be the sky and the ocean, two different directions, one object separated in two different canvases. Sometimes I mix figurative and abstract in the same painting. - About my materials - Primarily, I work with acrylics, and frequently with other materials such as Rami ( a vegetable fiber ), wood, coconut fiber, recycled paper and metal. - Selected exhibitions- Galeria Patricia Costa - Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro Galeria Artefacto - Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro Galeria Porcao - Niteroi, Brasil Revista de Arte Ventura - Brasil “Brazil is a very alive and energetic country. It has an exuberance of every color. My Art is Brazilian in it’s essence”. |
